Fleuramour 2011

Theme for the 16th edition of the international Flower Arrangement Event is FLEURAMOUR, PASSION FOR FLOWERS with numerous varieties of new plants and flowers, the latest floral trends and decoration tendencies, original bridal bouquets on the catwalk and so on.

PRINCESS for one day

Every bride wants to look fantastic on her wedding day. She wishes to feel the most beautiful woman in the world on that day. And flowers cannot be missing. During the flower event, florist Miranda ter Voorde (NL) marries again specially for you and produces, together with her flower divas, an impressive bridal floral show.

On the bridal catwalk* enchanting brides in elegant garments show off pearls of bridal bouquets: frivolous, romantic, sweet or restrained. These are all creations from the 'Fleur Cup for Professionals' competition.

*Only on Saturday and Sunday.

Fleuramour, reaching far beyond frontiers

The Alden Biesen Flowerevent is now famous far beyond our national borders. Both visitors and exhibiting florists from around the world attend, because over the years it has grown to become one of the world’s biggest flower arranging events.

We welcome Maroun Abou Khair and Samah Dagher from Lebanon, where flowers sumptuously decorate wedding parties. They are two extraordinary florists with a real reputation. They are bringing an exclusive table decoration for the most beautiful (wedding) party ever and are giving fascinating workshops. Their motto: Do not dismiss your dreams – we make your dreams real with flowers.

Italians are known for romance

Giuseppe Picca and his team are turning the castle stairs into a dazzling fairytale staircase and will let you get to know the magnificence and splendour of Italian floral arrangements.

Bart van Didden (NL), Claire Caulier (FR) and Haruko Noda (JP), three of Moniek Vanden Berghe’s disciples, are being given free rein to express their vision on the decor of the Great Hall (castle) and to transform it into their atmospheric space with flowers and design.

Also participating: Marie-Françoise Deprez (FR) Charlotte Bartholomé (B), Annemie Duchateau (B) and Ferenc Kruzslicz (HU)Rita Van Gansbeke (B), Annick Mertens (B), Stijn Cuvelier (B), Tom De Wilde (B) and many, many others.

A special love

Fleur Créatif is rightly proud of its leading team of florists, particularly Stef Adriaenssens (B), Geert Pattyn (B), Ivan Poelman (B), Moniek Vanden Berghe (B) and Jan Deridder (B). During Fleuramour they are each honouring their favourite flower in their own special way. With an eye and respect for the unique beauty of the flower.

Of course: Friday is ‘Hats Day’

Anyone who visits the Flower event on Friday must definitely wear a hat! Creative visitors will stroll around with a self-made vegetation-based hat: elegant, discreet or fierily nonchalant. Your creativity will be rewarded with a 2 Euros discount on the entrance fee and a glass of Cava. A professional jury will select the nicest hats! info

Because of a love for 'Gerbera'

Gerberas play with colour and radiate cheerfulness and liveliness. The Reineri company, an international wholesaler in high-quality flowers, is presenting a particular selection of gerberas on Friday. It will be the job of flower arrangers Philippe (B), Margriet van Dam (NL) and Tineke Geerlings (NL) to work with these flowers.

You also learn immediately where this flower comes from today, what varieties exist, how best to look after it and everything you can do with it.

New Talent!

The presentation of work by 15 young talents is a new feature this year. 15 florists are being selected and invited to set out on a journey with us for a whole year from the Flower event. They will complete trials spread out over 10 stages under the mentorship of a specialist jury during this year. The work of the three finalists will be exhibited in Alden Biesen in September 2012.
